From Red to Green: The CBET Biotechnology Rainbow Challenge
On Thursday, December 18, 2025,听nearly 100听high school students from Tech Valley High School and听Woodland Hill听Montessori听School visited Albany College听of Pharmacy and Health Sciences鈥� Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training to explore听the听colors of Biotechnology.听听
One of the fastest growing sectors of the U.S. economy,听biotechnology听leverages听a听color-coded system to classify its diverse applications.听Through interactive sessions with CBET faculty and staff, the students learned about these colors and discussed how they can be beneficial to our future.听Each experience revealed how biotechnology reaches far beyond food and medicine鈥攊nto oceans, forests, farms, and even extreme environments鈥攚hile helping听students听discover where听they听fit within the colors of the Biotechnology Rainbow.听
During the session, participants debated听the future of food听with students taking positions on听timely听questions about what we eat and how听it鈥檚听made; toured听CBET鈥檚听state-of-the-art听labs; and explored听the full Biotechnology Rainbow in an interactive session听discovering how听10 different areas鈥攆rom agriculture to medicine鈥攕hape the world around us.
