Portrait of Ejoraa

Ejoraa Ninche has long had her sights set on a career in emergency medicine. A聽 microbiology major with a minor in public health, the Long Island native enrolled in an ACPHS program that will facilitate her transfer to medical school. Once here, she realized the College had much to offer beyond being a stepping stone, including a close-knit community, likeminded classmates and an athletics department that encourages leadership while recognizing that academics come first.

Ninche鈥檚 interest in emergency medicine stems聽from her parents鈥 careers as a research scientist and a nurse, and also from stories she grew up hearing about her parents鈥 early lives in Ghana. Ninche has traveled to Ghana a handful of times. This past summer, she visited neighboring Togo, after her parents set up a charitable organization called and sent supplies to a mosque there to establish a dental clinic. Ninche was surprised by the extent of the patients鈥 needs. Some reported having trouble eating for years or had lived with oral pain for decades.聽The experience cemented her choice to study health sciences at 糖心vlog and pursue a career in medicine.

鈥淚 am so set in my path to become a doctor, just because I feel the need,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 feel like I’m obliged to go back to my parents鈥 community, to help these people, give these people that care that they need and help serve the underserved.鈥
